That's another reason GNR was so successful. Not only did they have the young rock/metal fans but a lot of older people who mainly listen to classic rock were into them to. They crossed over genres and multiple generations of fans as good as any band ever has.

You do have a point there, maybe my own bias against Axel got in the way. I went and looked up just album sales and you are correct:

RHCP are approximately 50 million records sold while Guns 'N Roses is over 100 million. Most artists with over 100 million are already in the HOF (Although Brittany Spears isn't and I pray she never, EVER, gets there).

not totally lame, sorta lame

Yes it's incredibly lame that Kiss and Iron Maiden were once again left out. But, Red Hot Chili Peppers? They're not lame! Guns N Roses aren't lame either. But if they get inducted, which I doubt, who would accept the award? Axl and the current GNR lineup, Slash Duff and Matt (or Steven?), or would they actually reunite and embrace that moment for an induction? Yes I know it's very unlikely they'll be inducted if Kiss and Iron Maiden weren't and even more unlikely that the original reunite or embrace for any moment. But Pink Floyd got back together w/Roger Waters in 2005 for the London Live 8 show and Led Zeppelin with John Bonham's son on Drums for that 2007 London show. So it's not impossible. But I'm sure the R&R Hall Of Fame will fuck this up like they've done with a lot of good bands before we can even consider induction.

GNR's time may have been short but they made the most of it and accomplished more in seven years than a lot of bands who have been together for decades. Even if you don't like them their success deserves respect.
True.
