Im sorry,... I was also at the concert tonight.
for me the setlist read 1) Yawn 2) ZZZZZZZ 3) zzzzzzz ( i need a drink) 4) Porcelain, oh i like this one, (but why are they moshing??) 5) ZZZZ another ballad oh every song is a ballad... (when you're moshing to the ballad, its OVER...) i left.... fuck that BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! fuck you opeth... i expected a bit of a personal let down since last weeks big4. but this really takes the cake instead of being psyched to see opeth again and buy a shirt... i'm gonna buy the metallica yankee stadium download goodbye |

Were you really at the concert? It doesn't sound like it since the concert was considerably worse than your review states. If I want to listen to bad Pink Floyd mixed with post-Gabriel Genesis while the band publicly masturbates, I would have loved this concert. As it stands, this was one of the most disappointing evenings at a metal (in this case I use the word loosely) show I have ever spent. Next time Opeth is in town, I won't be going. I'll sit home, save my $$, and listen to some of their albums so that I can remind myself that they actually have a set of metal balls among them.

Upon further review of the set list (even though I'm not really digging Heritage), I just got my ticket for the Dallas show.
Even though the set list isn't blowing me away, it's still Opeth. 30 bucks for a GA ticket. Much more than that and I probably would have passed, though.

Yeah. I've listened to Heritage twice today, and it keeps getting better. I'm getting pretty pumped for this show.

Was i really at the concert?
yes truly i was... but not for long... literally after porcelain heart i walked out. straight to subway. (ok i stopped at taco bell) ![]() so i cant speak to what happened after i left. but,... a friend stayed, and he spoke to exactly how you described it. worst show of the year, decade? ...ever? if you are a knowledgeable opeth fan. (and honestly, im NOT a huge fan, i only know a handful of songs, i'm kind of new to them), (im 41, listen mostly to the "classic" metal, and was giving opeth a chance, and adding them to my listening) the guy is a super talent, the recent live album is pretty good listening) save your money. you will really hate this set. |

I was at the show. I honestly felt it was one of the best times I've seen them. I guess they can't please everyone (or most, as it would appear), but I had a great time as did everyone around me. The Heritage songs really come to life live, but I think everyone's over reacting, in the sense that I do believe later tours won't be like this. But we shall see.
