Check out "In Defense of Food." It is a great examination of the decline of food in Western civ. Basically: we don't eat food anymore. We eat "edible food-like products".

I agree with that. Way too many chemicals in processed junk food these days, you don't know what's safe anymore. That's why I switched over to a mostly organic plant diet.
