I literally saw Testament play for 45 people. Yeah we were cursed by Aids but we had Hammerjacks and fake ID's so it all evens out.

What's a hammerjack?

A venue. You can find it referenced on Maiden's SiT cover.

Thanks man.

Yeah Hammerjacks was incredible. I remember going there on a Tuesday and seeing a band named Anvil Bitch who were total speed metal which I was really into at the time. While headbanging I looked over and Hawk from The Road Warriors was headbanging next to me. I went to Record and Tape Traders and found the album the next day and became their biggest fan for like a year. Never saw them again but everyone wanted to play Hammerjacks back in the day so we got so many great shows.

My friend Jill worked there for years and has hundreds of pics with bands and my favorite is Rob Halford just standing at the bar ordering a drink with no one even recognizing him. Classic!

I was born two years after this concert. These days I would have killed to see Metallica in their prime. God dammit I was born in the wrong era.

That's as close to a perfect Metallica set as I've ever seen. Nice review. I would have been 4 years old at the time, but I wish my parents would've let me go!
