Soundgarden -- San Francisco, CA -- July 21st, 2011

AWESOME show. I don't have a setlist for The Mars Volta, as the bulk of their set was unreleased material...all of it, actually, except for the closer, which was Goliath.

Soundgarden was absolutely amazing. The band was tight, the sound was great, and Cornell's voice is in incredible shape. If you've been on the fence at all about seeing them, rest assured, you'll get more than your money's worth.

Searching With My Good Eye Closed
Spoonman
Room a Thousand Years Wide
Jesus Christ Pose (played VERY fast)
Blow Up the Outside World
The Day I Tried to Live
My Wave
Ugly Truth
Fell On Black Days
Loud Love
Drawing Flies
Outshined
Nothing to Say
Rusty Cage
Black Hole Sun
Black Rain
Burden in My Hand
Head Down
Superunknown
4th of July

Beyond the Wheel
Pretty Noose
Like Suicide
Slaves & Bulldozers

Loud Love was the one song I really wanted to hear, but didn't, in Chicago. I can't really complain though with the sets they've been doin

Still upset we didn't get Flower. Amazing show nevertheless, mind-blowing.

I was REALLY hoping they'd play Gun, but I'm glad we got Drawing Flies.

It was. Songs #1-#5 were all new. For fucks sake! What about Thr Widow? Inertiatic ESP? Televators? L'Via L'Viaquez?

Very happy I didn't go then. I don't mind Soundgarden, but it'd all have been about TMV for me. I wasn't a huge fan of Octahedron and I am a little concerned about the way the new material will turn out.

Yeah, opening up for Soundgarden isn't the best way to see Mars Volta
