Book Of Heavy Metal is my favorite Dream Evil record. I would rate them quite high within power metal as a style of music. Please not I amen't a big power metal fan to begin with, I am merely rating what I like out of that style.

Broke my heart to not include this myself. But like half of my dozen all-time favorites are under the Prog Metal bracket, so I have to get pretty damn choosy.

I won't argue that Dio isn't a huge influence on the Power Metal genre, but I don't consider any of his work to be power metal. It's the same deal with Maiden, and a few other bands like them. It was essential stuff in the formation of the genre, but I don't think there was any true power metal prior to around 1985 and Helloween's Walls of Jericho, and the genre didn't really blossom for about 5 years more after that.

It's a fantastic album. Life in Still Water, Point of View and 11th Hour are absolute classics of the genre.

Honestly EVERY song on that album is a "classic" to me. But Eleventh Hour, Point of View, and Leave the Past Behind are my favorites. Honestly love all 8 of them though. One of only maybe ten records ever made where I can say that.
