NHL 2010-11 Season

As hockey season is quickly approaching, anybody have any thoughts on what we'll see this year?

I don't think my beloved Blackhawks will repeat this year, but they'll be among the best in the West again. The Leafs will suck only slightly less than last year. My pick for the Cup is Boston -- would be nice to see another Original 6 team take it.

So how does a team win a championship and dump all but 1 of it's star players?
Oh well, Sharks ended up with their goalie.

A bit early, no? Anyway, I'm hoping the Jackets bounce back and make the playoffs like they did year before last. Not holding out much hope to win a series, but I think we did improve in the offseason at least.

If KC had a NHL team, I'd go to so many games. I loved going to our IHL team's games.

It was reported that season ticket sales are down 24.5% in Columbus.

That's partly because starting a hockey team in Columbus in 2000 when most people were Red Wings fans was stupid, but also because the economy is bad and the Jackets missed the playoffs (badly) last year. I'll still try to make it out to a game or two over Christmas. Rick Nash won't stick around much longer if he doesn't think a Cup is in his future.

I'm hoping the Flyers build on the strengths of last year and have a great season. As usual I'm incredibly skeptical about a number of things - but mostly still upset that they got rid of essentially my favorite player still with the team.
