Katatonia -- Philadelphia, PA -- September 9th, 2010

Katatonia's first ever show in Philly. Swallow the sun opened the night, pretty sure they played the same set as in Baltimore.

Orphaned Land was next - I liked them, but the keys, scitar, and female vox were from a tape. If they had money to do a Therion style 13 person tour, it would be amazing. In addition to what I'm putting below, there were four songs I didn't know the title of, pretty sure they were from the new album

Katatonia was great in their first Philly appearance. Their singer, Jonas, is possibly the first fat man in Sweden. Played a solid 1.5 hours, which was nice. Set was:

Nine songs for OL? Nice! Really looking forward to Saturday.

Expected Ocean Land, Sapari, & Norra el Norra. Pumped for Kiss of Babylon, I love that song. Thanks for the atleast partial OL set!!

Amazing performance from Katatonia. Can't believe douche bags were moshing to Katatonia, including the soft parts. Some people just can't resist the urge to mosh...

The moshing did seem a little out of place. I was happy to see the Troc start to fill up for Katatonia. It was pretty empty for Swallow the Sun.

I might just go up there next time for Katatonia. I usually don't mind standing back further, away from moshers at heavier shows, but I didn't think the crowd would be that annoying for Katatonia. Katatonia is one of the bands I want to be up close for, and hear every word perfectly without getting randomly shoved from behind.

I was at the front corner of the balcony, you end up being closer from where I was than most of the people on the floor.

On their facebook page, they just announced a "special surprise" for tonight's show only. I wonder if Akerfeldt is joining them for Murder again?

I was in the crowd the one time I know of them doing it....it was fucking awesome...
