I gave this album a chance. I havn´t heard so much of Avenged before but many people said hey were utter shit basically. Then I saw them two years ago as the main supporing act to Maiden and it´s was enjoyable.

So I was a bit anxious to hear this release....

However.... This record was almost plain garbage.

I got to the eigth song which actually begins quite good with a mellow intro that remains me kinda of Fade To Black. Then the guy begins to "ooooohhhhh" like it was some crazy R´N´B-shit.

That was the most awful song this year (Darkthrones Bränn inte Slottet is a close contender however) and I wouldn´t people I truly despise to hear this shit.

As an Avenged Sevenfold fan I am really not digging this record. There is way too many slow songs and slow songs are not their strong suit. A few good tracks save from it being complete shit but still not a good record. I feel bad because they were clearly shaken up by The Rev's death and I respect them for making this record in his honor. Bottom line this is their worst record.

I actually have Waking the Fallen and listen to it occasionally as a bit of a guilty pleasure. These guys would take a lot less shit if they didn't look like such assholes and have stupid stage names.

I agree with everything you just said. I'm beyond disappointed, but not just the song writing. I'm a HUGE Dream Theater fan and I was excited when Mike Portnoy announced he would be playing drums. Yes, I understand that it was a tribute to The Rev and I'm sure he didn't want to overdo it... But come on. The only two songs that I enjoyed the drums on for were Natural Born Killer and Save Me. Don't get me wrong, I understand Avenged Sevenfold and Dream Theater are completely different, but the fans who only care about speed certainly aren't going to go and check out Portnoy's bands now.

And there are quite a lot of people I know that think that The Rev recorded the album. When the hell are the people that I go to school with going to learn the name Mike Portnoy instead of raving about Travis Barker?

And yea, the slower songs are a bit too soft. The only slow one from them I ever really got into was Seize the Day back in my mallcore days.
