Warbringer -- St. Paul, MN -- June 13th, 2010

Jackal
Living in a Whirlwind
Severed Reality
Total War
Prey for Death
Scorched Earth
At the Crack of Doom
Systematic Genocide
Combat Shock

The show was advertised to start at 6:30 p.m. Since I worked all day, I was looking forward to catching Warbringer's set and getting home early. I arrived at 8 p.m. and Sacrificial Slaughter, the first band, was just starting. Yawn. At least the hoops game was on in the bar so I could kill time before Warbringer. I checked out portions of Enfold Darkness and Vital Remains, but Warbringer was the only band on this bill that I cared about.

Around 10:15, Warbringer finally came on. There were maybe 50 people in the audience. It was my first time seeing Warbringer and I can't tell you how pleased I am to have finally discovered a young metal band I can dig. Warbringer played for about 45 minutes and and one-fourth of the audience headed for the exit immediately after. Pestilence couldn't have had more than 35 people in the room for their set.

I'm pulling for Warbringer to keep improving and stick around for a while. Cool bunch of guys and a helluva band.

I love Warbringer, but you didn't care about Vital Remains for Pestilence?

Dude...

The same thing kinda happened in Seattle. The biggest crowd of the night was for Vital Remains, then it cleared out a bit for Warbringer, then it seemed like about half the crowd was gone before Pestilence. Never seen anything like it before, it was kinda sad

On a side note, it seems like Warbringer is changing their set up a bit on this tour which is kinda nice. The three songs before Combat Shock at my show were Abandoned By Time, Shoot to Kill, and Senseless Life instead of what's listed. That makes it 2 straight Warbringer shows that they haven't played Scorched Earth, my favorite Warbringer song

Good additions to the set, hopefully they slowly rise up to being direct support commonly, then headliners. Granted the latter will take a while...
