I'll just do a top 10, while doing this I realized how much my musical tastes have changes since the 90's. So I got this memory of when I was younger, and then reality of now as to what's good and what's just a good memory (like, if this shit came out now and I never heard of the band before, I'd never listen to it...so how could it be in my top list?). Also I'm noticing that there are a lot of albums I haven't listened to enough to form a good opinion on, from this era.
TOOL - Ænima Rob Zombie - Hellbilly Deluxe Machine Head - Burn My Eyes White Zombie - Astro-Creep 2000 Fear Factory - Demanufacture Pantera - Cowboys From Hell Metallica - Metallica White Zombie - La Sexorcisto Machine Head - The More Things Change Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power * There is always In Flames, but I don't think their 90's work is their best. * Also leaving off two huge Sepultura albums (chaos ad & roots). * Alice in Chains never put together a complete album, in my opinion. * Korn's early work came out in the late 90's but... * Tool, my favorite band probably, had Opiate and Undertow, but I've never been a huge fan of that more rock-sound. * Opeth's early work needs to be mentioned. * Rammstein's early work. * Amon Amarth's first few albums. * Behemoth's Satanica? * Early Children of Bodom? * SlipKnot - self titled? |

[quote=Derelict;263916]I'm not saying they are bad albums, not by any means. But I became a fan with Reroute to Remain, and I think Clayman is where they really started to hit their stride, but that didn't come out until 2000. Add in Soundtrack to Your Escape and Come Clarity and that's their four best albums, in my opinion. I hated their last one (a sense of purpose).

This was nearly impossible for me to do, just so you all know!
![]() I am sure I am forgetting lots! I tried to limit it to one album per band, but in some cases there are ties where I just could not choose one over the other. Angra - Angels Cry Anthrax - Sound of White Noise/Stomp 442 (tie) Blind Guardian - Nightfall in Middle Earth Candlebox - Self Titled/Happy Pills (tie) Cinderella - Still Climbing Dark Tranquility - The Gallery Dissection - Storm of the Light's Bane Edguy - Theatre of Salvation Emperor - In the Nightside Eclipse Flotsam & Jetsam - Cuatro/Drift (tie) Gamma Ray - Land of the Free/Powerplant (tie) Guns N Roses - Use Your Illusion I & II Hammerfall - Glory to the Brave Helloween - Time of the Oath Megadeth - Rust in Peace Overkill - WFO Savatage - Streets: a Rock Opera Savatage - Edge of Thorns Sonata Arctica - Ecliptica Tad Morose - A Mended Rhyme Tesla - Bust a Nut (edit: I was thinking, how could I not include Tad Morose on this list, so just added Tad Morose - A Mended Rhyme) Last edited by The Green and Black; 04-13-2010 at 12:52 PM. |
