Cowboys From Hell and Vulgar Display Of Power are great metal albums and Pantera's future was looking bright after these two releases. But everything else they released after this was a letdown. Far Beyond Driven was OK but nothing special. The Great Southern Trendkill was a bit better but again nothing that special and Reinventing The Steel was average at best. Pantera saved metal from going completely extinct in the mainstream during the early 90s but with the exception of their first two albums their muscial legacy isn't as great as some would have you believe.

I wonder if this will spark a debate or not?
I'm maybe not as harsh on the later stuff as you might be but you're basically right.

I basically agree. I think Pantera's albums got weaker as time went on. Cowboys being my favorite, Vulgar being second, and the rest just meh.

I think The Great Southern Trend Kill is great and is no where near a let down at all. Far beyond driven wasnt a letdown but no where near has good has CBFH and VDOP.

I think somebands can scream and growl well but other screamers and growlers are talentless and awful and put nothing into it at all.

Really?

I think we should give this guy his own smiley. I suggest:

:

...the added bonus would be if the curse of having one's own smiley would come true.

By a small margin, I've come to prefer Far Beyond Driven the most.
