Anata

What do you guys think of this band?

They're my favorite, if you couldn't already tell from my username. Under Azure Skies is one of the most surreal things I have ever experienced.

Have heard of them, but haven't listened much. Am listening to MySpace samples now. They remind me of Psycroptic, Decrepit Birth or Obscura - technical death metal bands which are very good, but just aren't top tier to me in this highly competitive sub-genre. The bands to beat are still Necrophagist, Gorod and Gojira, IMHO. Anata does sound decent, though - I'm not knocking them at all. Maybe I'll listen to them more and return some time in the future for a follow-up post...

EDIT: BTW, my two favorite bands from Sweden are Burst (now THAT's how you do progressive metalcore), and of course the mighty MESHUGGAH, which is the heaviest and most insane thing on the face of the Earth. Period.

They rule! Dreams of Death and Dismay is a classic. Can't wait for the new album!
