Made In Iron -- Allentown, PA -- February 20th, 2010
This was technically my band's last show ever - but it was just my sister and I playing acoustic, due to lack of an actual band. Our set list was supposed to include two more songs, but we cut them because it just wasn't going that great and crowd response was honestly pretty dismal.
Necromance set list: 01.love Ain't No Stranger (Whitesnake) 02.Showdown (The Snakes) 03.Tears of the Dragon (Bruce Dickinson) 04.Solitary Shell (Dream Theater) 05.Sailing Ships (Whitesnake) 06.The Spirit (Magnum) (Edguy's arrangement) 07.Goldilox (King's X) 08.This Time (Machines of Grace) 09.Hands of Time (Primal Fear) Sinister Realm played after us - and they are a pretty kickass traditional heavy metal band, probably the best thing this area has to offer as far as original music goes right now. We only ever got to play with them once as a full band, but they're really cool guys. Then the headliner was Made In Iron, our area's newly-formed Iron Maiden tribute band. Their set featured a song or two they haven't performed before, and this was only their fourth show ever - but they've been getting consistently better. During the second set, my sister and I joined them onstage for a couple of songs - making it a 3-guitar, 2-singer affair. It was tons of fun and though it wasn't a big crowd, they were really, really into it. It was an excellent way to reverse the mediocre/depressing feelings of our own set. Made In Iron: 01.The Ides of March 02.Wrathchild 03.Another life 04.Innocent Exile 05.Ghengis Khan 06.Killers 07.Number of the Beast 08.Purgatory 09.Murders in the Rue Morgue 10.Drifter 11.The Wicker Man ------------------------- 12.Aces High 13.Where Eagles Dare 14.Remember Tomorrow 15.Hallowed Be Thy Name 16.The Prisoner (Me on guest guitar) 17.Wasted Years (Me on guest guitar, my sister on guest vocals) 18.The Trooper (Me on guest guitar, my sister on guest vocals) 19.Powerslave 20.Iron Maiden Encore: 21.2 Minutes to Midnight |

That's a pretty lethal Maiden setlist. If it had 7th Son it would be perfect.

What a great setlist. I hope these guys make it down to MD. Tribute bands have virtually died around here.

That's really awesome dude, it is one seriously amazing song. The lyrics in that really get to me, it's just beautiful all around. So bummed they didn't play it when I saw them last year.

Yeah, pretty much. I'll explain:
Well, back in October shit really exploded with our previous drummer. It wasn't simply a split, he totally flipped out and it was this huge clash of ideals - but basically he really slammed me and my sister - saying basically all our ideas about how we were going about what we were doing was wrong - he really thought he had all the answers. After that, the remaining three of us just decided to take a break. But then we found out about a month ago that our bassist had decided to not only keep in contact with our ex-drummer but actually join his band. We were pretty pissed and it really reaffirmed a long run of doubts, second thoughts, and tension with him - so we basically told him we didn't want to work with him anymore. So then there were two... We've dealt with a lot of issues over time with a negative legacy following our name around. Admittedly early on we made a lot of mistakes - playing live well before we were ready, displaying a lot of musical and personal unprofessionalism. And apparently we've made a lot of enemies, completely without wanting too. So we kinda want to drop the name for that reason, as well as the fact that sadly our name has kinda come to represent five years of failed pushes and not really getting anywhere. We just want a fresh start, and completely laying to rest our name (as well as the majority of the songs we've written for it) is really the only way to do that. As for what's next - I don't know. I'm going to try to put something together, just not sure how I'm going to go about. Basically, I'm done with playing live in the sense that we have - it's a waste of time. It's not worth it to go through the effort to find musicians, rehearse like hell, haul all the gear around and deal with all the booking issues to play to 50 mildly interested people. our area has absolutely no live music scene on the local level, we're never going to get anywhere unless we become a lame old-people cover band. So basically whatever I do, I just want to write the music I want to make, and record it in the studio, and probably put together a quality demo and see what kind of attention I might be able to attract with it. Eventually maybe get back into shows again, but really I just want to take a HUGE break from all the bullshit and get back into enjoying playing and writing music again. |

They hardly ever do, really. I've seen them 15 or 16 times, and I think I've only seen them play it four or five times. It's a shame, but they are an AMAZING live band, no matter what the setlist.

It's worth it even if ONE Person is interested.
