This really sucks. TBH I wouldn't be surprised if he retires because of it. Things like this show you how its important to appreciate your time and make the most of what you can with it. Dio did that and became one of the classic metal icons.

Maybe I'm a pessimist but I'm with Mike. I think this is it for Dio and Heaven and Hell, unfortunately. I hope he gets past this battle. He's what metal is all about, and we take for granted what he's done to fly the metal flag.

I've thought about that as well and I do think this is probably the end for Dio touring and recording as well. Even if he is cancer free after a year or so at 67 years old we're looking at him being 70 by the time he fully recovers and is in well enough shape to record music and tour again. My mom passed away from cancer and the surgeries and especially the kimo therapy kick the shit out of you and leave with little to no energy.

I can see Ronnie doing one last show if he pulls through but I don't see any entensive touring and recording over the next few years at all.
