Vader -- New York, NY -- November 7th, 2009
This show had to be one of the greatest death metal shows I've seen in a long time. Aside from the first band, every single group that played were incredible, tight, brutal, epic, anything you can think of to describe a good death metal band describes this tour.
Swashbuckle couldn't make the date, unfortunately, so they were replaced by a deathcore band called Rose Funeral. I'm not the biggest deathcore (or any core, honestly) fan, so, I just kind of went in the back while they played. Between songs, almost everyone in the crowd, at least 90%, were booing at them. The only people that enjoyed them were the ninja-kickers in their "pit." Kinda pathetic that that's what a mosh pit is on STRONG ISLAND.... But the story doesn't end there. At the end of their set, their guitar player and drummer were going to security and having them escort the people they saw booing at them. Some bands really need to learn to take criticism; If that's how you're going to respond to people who don't like you, you don't deserve the fans you have. The guitar player was actually starting fights with one of the kids.... Pathetic...... ANYWAY, after them came this ridiculous band from Canada called Augury. I had listened to them previously, but I didn't know their material, so, unfortunately, there will be no setlist from them. Same goes for The Amenta, who were brutal, even though their sound was muddy. I don't think the sound guy even had the guitar player's volume up at all. If you've never listened to either of those bands, check them out, they're both great. Now, onto Warbringer. This was probably my 3rd time seeing them. Their set hasn't really changed much. A couple of my friends actually stayed behind and got to smoke a little bit with them, a couple of the guys from Augury, and a couple guys from Decrepit Birth. The set was as follows: Jackal Living in a Whirlwind Severed Reality Total War Scorched Earth Beneath the Waves Combat Shock This was my first time seeing Decrepit Birth, and it certainly won't be my last. Those guys know how to put on a show. They remind me of a modern and slightly more technical Death. The vocalist is one of the most down-to-Earth guys you'll ever meet. He was sellin the merch, so if anybody is interested in meeting him, he'll be there. The set was as follows: Living Doorway The Infestation Polarity (New Song; title track of the new record) Condemned to Nothingness Diminished Between Worlds Symbiosis Prelude to the Apocalypse There is nothing else that needs to be said about the next and final band other than what the main man said himself. "What can I say? Vader has returned." Great show, decent set, can't wait to see them again. Piotr is also one of the coolest guys out there. I met him as he walking throughout the merch area. The entrance to the backstage was right around there, so, he was around for a little while. But, that doesn't matter. Vader's set was as follows (a couple songs are missing): Devilizer Sothis Rise of the Undead Never Speak my Name Anger - I think... Wings Between Day And Night Shadowfear Carnal Black to the Blind Silent Empire Dark Age ----ENCORE---- THIS IS THE WAR Thanks to girny777 for filling in the parts that I was missing Great show. I cannot wait to see Vader with Overkill next year. Last edited by Polock91; 11-08-2009 at 10:30 AM. |

Wow, even if it's missing a few songs that looks like a really damn short set, what the fuck? I'm not as upset over missing this now, I think.
But, encoring with This Is The War is awesome. My favorite Vader song. |

Allow me to fill in the gaps.
Devilizer Sothis Rise of the Undead Never Speak my Name Anger - I think... Wings Between Day And Night Shadowfear Carnal Black to the Blind Silent Empire Dark Age ----ENCORE---- THIS IS THE WAR I should also say that early on in the show Piotr said he was having some voice problems so that may be why they played a short set. Also Vogg was having guitar troubles for the first few songs, but he was alright by the third song or so. This was my fouth time seeing Vader and once again they blew everybody away. I can't wait for their return.

Jesus Christ Rose Funeral was the most pathetic thing I've ever seen. Not only were the band faggots themselves, their fans were fucking douches. But thankfully, alot of them got kicked out. Though there was one good thing out of there set, as there were these guys doing the YMCA and ballerina moves in the middle of the pit
Those dude were awesome. Augury, yet very talented, were quite boring IMO. Same goes for The Amenta. One thing that I thought was funny about their set was that when their "keyboardist" yelled out it was as loud, if not louder than the PA from where I was standing Finally Warbringer came on and just fucking dominated the place. They were the main reason I came out to this show, and I'm damn glad I did. John Kevill is a real nice guy as well. Then Decripit Birth came on, and although I'm not really into them, they put on a good show, though I was a bit bored at times. After them came Vader, who kicked all sorts of ass. I don't really listen to them, but they were great live. Of course when Piotr introduced the band members, there was a Vitek chant when he introduced Vogg, whice was nice. One thing that I though was stupid though was that the vocals were kinda buried in the mix until the last song before the encore. Overall a really good show... except for Rose Funeral who was possibly the worst piece of shit band I have seen live. Fucking posers.

Rose Funeral is one of the worst bands around. I am very sorry that you guys had to sit through them. I am not a Swashbuckle fan either but at least they are better than fuckin Rose Funeral. Rose Funeral is one of the bands that gives deathcore a really bad name.

Edit: I was gonna write a review for this, but this guy beat me to it. I'll write it when I get back to Bing, don't got time. Makethemsuffer summed it up damned well though

Because Vogg is in Decapitated, so it was a sign of respect for their fallen drummer.
Like it had a good name to begin with...
