agreed. every prog or power metal band that comes to LA charges about $30-40 a ticket. Primal Fear just played here sometime ago and their tickets were $30 plus $10 ticketmaster charges. same deal every time Edguy plays here, Kamelot, Sonata Arctica, Stratovarius, etc. suprisingly DragonForce doesn't charge that much as they're bigger than all those bands.

luckily i always find some sort of deal from the opening band. i paid $40 to see Stratovarius in 2006. i found a deal this time that's only $28 from a local band opening the show. same thing with Sonata Arctica in 2007 i paid $20 instead of $40.

The last 3 posts I've seen from him were all anal. Just an observation.

Anyone who is "bugged" by the title of a post not being right either needs to twist one up or get laid... or both.

I rarely if ever classify music but if that show isn't a prog show what is it?

In his defense I don't think he was bugged, I just think he was clarifying that Strato aren't prog. Which, also in his defense, is true. I'm not being wise ass or anything, but it's true. I'm not chopping your head off for it, but it's more of a power metal show really. Or power/prog, whatever floats your boat.

And in response to your other post, I see where you're coming from with that genre of bands being really greedy. It is awfully strange to see Dragonforce, whom are bigger than any of those other bands easily, charging the lowest amount. Hopefully that changes, because I love prog/power metal too much to drop due to cash.

i don't know to me power and prog metal are almost the same thing with the exception of some bands. bands like Sonata have a lot of prog elements post-Silence. Stratovarius in my opinion has some prog elements, i hear it a lot in Dreamscape. Symphony X sometimes with songs like Seven and Eve of Seduction. just a few of many examples. most people will probably disagree with me though.

Symphony X are really the only band you named that actually have prog elements.

Strato basically write the same (great) song over and over.

Actually he was bugged in the Lamb of God thread. No biggie. Not trying to bag on anyone I just don't deal well with unjustified negativity I guess. I know a guy who always corrects people and as you get older you'll learn that people really resent you for that. Personally I'd rather know but I'm not like most people.

I stand corrected. Power/Prog bands are overcharging their fans. To me Burst were prog. The dude who sits is really Steve Howe influenced and the other guy was like a prog Michael Schenker or something. I guess prog means technical to me. Manowar is power metal where I come from and there is a very thin line between prog and power I guess. Iced Earth is probably considered power metal but they're kinda prog to me also.

I really don't categorize music but the only people I know going to tonights show go to Dream Theater, Symphony X and they're going for Pagan's Mind and not Stratovarious. They'll always be my "prog" friends. hahaha

like i said it's my opinion. i hear a lot of prog elements in Sonata's new stuff.
i hate dealing with sub genres that are similar cause there's always very long arguements especially on youtube.
unless someone calls Bring Me The Horizon death metal (which happens alot -__-), then there's a reason to argue.

I started with Enigmatic: Calling and was hooked. Worked my way back and then got God's Equation when it came out.

Great band. Can't wait for the new live album/DVD and they say they'll have a new album out by next summer.
