The point that people seem to miss is that I'm not anti-solos. I'm anti solos in favor of songs, and when a band is on a pre-determined set time-limit, that's exactly what it is. I can really enjoy solos or extensive crowd participation or what have you at a show, but I will NEVER want to see that in favor of songs the band could be playing instead. |

Unaccompanied solos stopped being enjoyable when set times are a factor.
Zeppelin is a good example. Page and Bonham could take long solos, keep them semi interesting instead of "look what I can do" while giving the other members a break because they could go 2+ hours any given night.

I'm not anti solos when there's time to do them. But if you're only going 90 minutes there's no reason for it. I see no reason why every band member can't be ready to go at least a full 90 minutes without needing a break. It's not like these guys are pushing 70 like Dio and may need an extra break to rest during the set. Except for Rudess everyone else is in their 40's which is still realatively young today and there's no reason they can't do just songs in their set instead of wasting time with jams and solos.

Seriously. Only diehard DT fans could find something remotely positive in that horrific setlist.
Nothing is worse than a musician or band that becomes pompus and ignores their core fans. FAIL!

I know the sets havent been that good but A Nightmare to Remember would be great to see live no matter what the rest of the set looks like.
