It's official. I've lost every ounce of respect I ever had for Dream Theater. I can only imagine the bewildered faces of people leaving that arena after that horrific setlist.
Monumental FAIL!

I haven't lost all respect for them musically at all but i have lost all respect for Portnoy when it comes to choosing setlists. I'm sorry but some of these sets are just awful. It's not that I don't like the songs they played here it's just there is so much better to choose from. Another set without anything from I&W, Awake that makes at least 4 or 5 times now they've done that this tour. I can see once in awhile that happening but it's not like these songs are ancient and they need a break from them. Also when they do anything from SFAM this tour it isn't even the best stuff off that album. I know Portnoy has always written the setlists for them but maybe it's time they let someone else in the band do it or make it a group effort maybe there will be a better selection.
When you're only doing 90 minutes you really gotta learn to manage the time better. DT always mentions how big of an influenece bands like Rush and Metallica have been to them through the years. How about they take some lessons from them on how to put a set together as well? They never ignore their most popular albums live DT really needs to think about people who are seeing them for the first time who wanna hear certian albums represented. It's just absolutely arrogant and a a big "Fuck You" to the audience when they play sets like this. |
