Mayhem -- Houston, TX -- May 26th, 2009
![]() No Marduk still, apparently they had a problem with their visas coming in, and during a holiday weekend....yeah that didn't work out well. They should be playing the San Antonio gig tonight and should be on the rest of the tour though. I'd love to see Marduk's list whenever someone comes across it. Show was fucking siiiick! Though in all honesty I thought that Watain but on a better black metal show when they came, Mayhem put on a fantastic theatrical like performance. Attila held abnormally long screams, grunts, and was just fucking good. There were some sound issues in the beginning though but that cleared up. Me and some friends talked to Necrobutcher after the show and he said that he wasn't that pleased with the sound that night, hell, Hellhammer was in a pissy mood about the sounds and never came out of the bus. lol Now when I talk about theatrical though, I mean props all over the place! 4 voodoo heads that were melting, freshly skinned horse and boar heads, a wooden tripod that held 30 or so candles with a noose hanging down from the middle of it, their logo on the drum kit is made to look like it's made from human skin, just fucking amazing. Attila had fucking nasty corpse paint on that looked old and crusty and wore a cloak that basically made him look like a preacher, but of course he still had his huge ass inverted cross. Merch wasn't that bad, Mayhem had quite a few shirts (all shirts were $25), so did all the other bands. Had Ordo Ad Chao on sale but also some special boxset that is only limited to 3000 in the world there for $40. Also had a Tormentor on sale which Attila sang on, and if you bought that or the boxset, Attila comes out after the show and will sign all your shit by the merch table. And with a signature like this on nearly every one he'd sign: ![]() All of Mayhem (including the two new guitarists) are extremely down to earth guys. They have working visas for the entire year, so their plan is to come back sometime in November. Now enough of that babbling here's Mayhem's setlist (didn't bother with anyone else since I didn't really care for them) --Mayhem-- Pagan Fears Ancient Skin From The Dark Past My Death A Time To Die View From Nihil Illuminate Eliminate Anti Freezing Moon Crystalized Pain In Deconstruction Silvester Anfang Deathcrush Buried By Time And Dust Carnage De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas Pure Fucking Armageddon

No To Daimonion, Wall of Water, Funeral Fog, Fall of Seraphs, Impious Devious Leper Lord or Chainsaw Gutsfuck, but otherwise great (They can't play everything in one set) but it sounds like as far as stage theatrics go, these guys might top the Iron Maiden tour that I saw last year.
