some questions about Kreator:

1) are they part of a group of thrash bands in Europe not unlike the US big 4: Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax? If so, what are they?

2) If the first part is a resounding no, then this is not going to matter, but not unlike the US big 4 (w/ the possible exception of Slayer), did they stay with the thrash or evolve out of it? or perhaps re-defined it? or whatever

Well, I'm not sure how "official" this is, but the Teutonic Thrash equivalent to the US "Big 4" generally is considered the trio of Kreator, Sodom, and Destruction.

The answer to this is a resounding yes, all three of the major Teutonic Thrash bands have stayed thrash throughout their careers.

Kreator did stop being thrash for a short period of time... But they rather gracefully returned after that period.

I would say Tankard belong in the German "Big Four" along with the mentioned bands.

I personally place them there myself, but you don't hear them mentioned as often as the other three sadly.

I know it's a late reply but I hate John Kevil's guts, thats why I don't wanna see them. Plus they rip off a ton of they're riffs.
