2007: The Year in Film
God, what an awful year.
At the beginning of the year I was only excited to see Pirates 3 and Halloween, both of which were okay-but-not-great. Superbad was funny but still overhyped. 300 was metal, but not much of a movie. I'm still gonna go to Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (which will probably be dumber than hell, but hopefully at least funny) and Sweeney Todd (which I'm hoping will save the year). Anyone else feel the way I do?

It wasn't the year it promised to be, for sure. A lot of the big sequels turned out to suck.
My movie of the year without a doubt was 3:10 to Yuma. I didn't get to see some of the others I particularly wanted to. Off the top of my head: The Nines, The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford, 30 Days of Night, Day Watch, Tell No One, The Brave One, The Good Shepherd, Resident Evil Extinction, The Bourne Ultimatum. Otherwise I saw Halloween (let down), Smokin' Aces (good fun), 28 Weeks Later (let down), The Simpsons Movie (let down), DeJa Vu (good).

I didn't set foot in a movie theater once this year.

The Good: 300 (I don't care that it has about zero merit as a film, it's enjoyable as fuck) and Superbad. Zodiac was good too.
The terrible: Sequels. Just about everything else I've seen this year was bad or eh, too. Edit: Simpsons Movie wasn't bad either.

It was absolutely horrible. Probably one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
No Country for Old Men was the only worthwhile movie I saw in theaters this year. |

Come to think of it, I think my favorite movie this year may have actually been Ratatouille. Disney + Pixar = Good always
EDIT: Goddamn! I didn't know No Country for Old Men was a Coen Bros. movie! Must. Go. See. Now.
