Overkill -- Rochester, NY -- October 5th, 2007
First off, let me just say that I've been lurking on this site for around...I dunno, upwards of half a year, and I figured that I might as well join and start contributing. So yes, here I am, first contribution.

Anyways, getting over the fact that it's probably one of the most random pairings ever, it was still a pretty fantastic show. The show was at the Penny Arcade, and there couldn't have been more than...150 people there. Me and my buddy were right there at the front for all of the bands (that includes the mediocre local bands), and so for once we didn't have to try to look over everyone. Epica played first, and they played just about an hour. There are a few songs that they didn't play that kinda upset me, but for the most part, it was cool. Mark Jansen kept throwing me and my buddy the horns and high fiving us, and in the end he gave me a guitar pick, and I swiped the setlist. It was actually kinda funny, when he was introducing Crystal Mountain, he pointed at me and goes "you know this next song," because I was wearing my Sound of Perseverance shirt. So their setlist:

Indigo (intro)
The Obsessive Devotion
Sensorium
Mother of Light
Chasing the Dragon
Menace of Vanity
Cry for the Moon
Sancta Terra
Crystal Mountain (Death Cover)
Consign to Oblivion

Next was Overkill, who I like, but don't really adore by any means. However, they completely exceeded my expectations, because they completely tore it up. Bobby Blitz is incredibly energetic for a...what, 50 year old guy? Either way, I wasn't familiar with the majority of the songs they played, but I took a picture of the setlist as they were setting up, so I still know what they played. There were a few songs I was surprised by, and a few that I would have liked them to play, but oh well, it was still terrific. My neck got absolutely wrecked. \m/

Anyways, here's the setlist on the picture I took. They played most of the songs, but I did write down which ones said "drop," because I'm certain they didn't play Old School, which makes me assume that they do, indeed, drop certain songs for this tour:

Thanks for the info! Was this a co-headlining show? That might explain why Overkill dropped so many songs.

This overkill tour has been odd, they played with After Forever by me, which is equally as odd, but this year has been odd tours, hell Edguy opend up for Aerosmith in Germany.

Sorry, I should have made it a bit clearer. The ones that said "drop" COULD HAVE BEEN dropped, but weren't. So it's like a rotating setlist. We got all of those except for Old School. I assume that those are just the songs that'll vary from place to place.

The show wasn't co-headlining, it was normal; Epica got an hour, Overkill got about an hour and forty.
