Def Leppard -- Irvine, CA -- September 23rd, 2007

Headliner: Def Leppard
Support: Styx and Foreigner

I got to attend this show for FREE!!! A co-worker of mine lives next door to Phil Collen. He asked her if she wanted tickets to this show. She said she knew some folks who would and got 4 tickets for me, another co-worker, and our spouses left at "will call." The seats were excellent!!! And best of all they came with BACKSTAGE PASSES!!!! This was one of the most fun shows I have ever been to. It was not because of the bands, or the music, but due to all the little "extras" of the night and it was all for FREE!!!!

Missed part of Styx set but did manage to catch:

Too Much Time On My Hands
Fooling Yourself
Miss America
Drum Solo
Come Sail Away
-------
Renegade

Sounded great!!! After their set we went backstage and met Tommy Shaw, Mick Jones of Foreigner, and their current drummer Jason Bonham. Yep, the son of the great one! Then we got to meet Phil Collen and Rick Allen. Saw part of Foreigner's set from backstage and the rest from our seats. They were the surprise of the night for me. I was never a big fan but liked their music. They did sound rather impressive live. I may have missed a song or may have this out of order but their set included:

Double Vision
Head Games
Cold As Ice
Hot Blooded
Feels Like The First Time
Urgent
I Want To Know What Love Is
---------
Juke Box Hero (Whole Lotta Love & drum solo in middle)

Then Def Leppard:

Rocket
Animal
Excitable
Foolin'
Mirror, Mirror (Look Into My Eyes)
Another Hit And Run
Love Bites
Rock On
Two Steps Behind
Bringin' On The Heartbreak (acoustic beginning)
Switch 625
Hysteria
Armageddon It
Photograph
Pour Some Sugar On Me
-----------------------------------
Rock Of Ages

The sound was just incredible especially the guitars.
Nothing really outstanding except for the 4 songs from High n Dry otherwise a very standard set for them. After the show went backstage again and met Joe Elliot. Also had some wonderful food!

All in all a very fun evening and it was all for FREE!!!!!

I've seen them twice... the first back in 2003 was quite good, but the second in 2005 was quite bad, Joe sounded like shit.

He is also very out of shape compared to his band mates!

luckily the first time I saw them they did Too Late for Love and the second time they did Gods of War, which together are two of my absolute favorite DL songs, and a bit of a rarity live these days.
