Sounds like a really cool road trip! Did you need a passport to get into Canada? I think they require one now if you fly but I have heard that you don't need one when you drive into the country.

Yep, that's accurate. You apparently just need some form of solid ID. I had a passport handy so that's what I used, but my buddies used their social security cards and birth certificates. We had to pull over and sit around in customs for like 45 minutes, though--the friend who was driving at the time has no sense of what kind of impression he gives people, so he came off as really cocky, even though he meant well. Plus, let's face it, they're more likely to stop a group of 3 long-haired dudes in leather, patch jackets, bullet belts, etc. (plus one cute girl in similar attire )

They let my Spanish teacher and her friends right through with no more than a wave and a smile...metalheads are profiled!
