Hmm. Well, okay, I'm an elitist snob, whatever. But I really really really don't want any power metal, or death metal. I want the stuff I listed, which I so far have very little input on.

I'd disagree. I bet if I made a poll of "Do you listen to prog" there would be twice as much yes as no.
