Blind Guardian -- Hollywood, CA -- November 11th, 2006
Got a chance to see Blind Guardian for the second time ever. This was the setlist (I think its in order):
War of Wrath Into the Storm Born in a Mourning Hall The Script for my Requiem Fly Nightfall Bright Eyes Valhalla Time Stands Still (At the Iron Hill) Welcome to Dying Another Stranger Me Lord of the Rings And Then There Was Silence Encore: Imaginations from the Other Side The Bards Song - In the Forest Mirror Mirror Overall this was a great show. I liked how they had the video wall behind them and the band was able to play images during most of the songs. It definitely was better than a random "Blind Guardian" poster and it added another dimension to the songs. In fact I think each song that had video images was enhanced by this use of video. Bravo BG for using this!! Not much to complain about the setlist except that if this is a tour for A TWIST IN THE MYTH then they really didnt play that many songs from that album. I would have really liked to have heard "Otherland" but this album is really one of my least favorites of their catalog so it wasnt that big of a deal for me. I was surprised that they only played "And Then There Was Silence" from ANATO, especially since they played it for that album's tour. In fact I wouldnt have minded 3 other songs rather than this epic song but I wont complain all that much since I do love this song. The most amazing thing that I have seen in a concert setting was right after Valhalla was done everyone in the crowd kept going and singing the "Valhalla! Deliverance! Why've you ever forgotten me?" over and over to the point that Hansi, Andre and Marcus sat down in front of Frederik's drum set to watch the crowd. In fact the crowd participation was phenomenal. There were many times when Hansi wouldnt sing the lyrics and the crowd didnt miss a beat with carrying him on. If Blind Guardian is heading to your town for this tour I highly recommend you go and check them out. |

I would kind of like to see ' This Will Never End ' as the show opener, and then ' War Of Wrath/Into The Storm ' as the intro to the encores.

I almost bought tickets to see BG in Chicago on this tour but I thought I would wait until closer to the show. I am glad that I waited because I just realized that they are playing in Chicago on Thanksgiving night! My family would have killed me if I tried to go to a show on Thanksgiving. That is crazy.
