Dream Theater -- Amsterdam, Netherlands -- October 11th, 2005

Got this from the IMBB::

"Just got back from the concert, posted this on the Ayreon ML:

No Dream theater didn't play ITEC but the whole Dark side of the moon...

I pressume all of you know, but for the ones that don't know, Dream theater has started this tradition to play a whole album of an of act that influenced them, when they play 2 shows at the same city. They started of some 3 years ago with Master of Puppets in Barcelona and The number of the beast in Paris after that. Well despite all the rumours on the internet, the choice this time was quite obvious, being Dark side of the moon. (All the prog fans were already slightly upset that they started off with 2 rock albums after eachother). Well after quite a heavy first set the second set started off with te beginnings of quite a lot of prog albums, I heard some Yes, Genesis, Operation Mindcrime, 2112, but all of them were interrupted by a big record scratch. It was fun to hear the audience respond to that (aaah...). Finally the video started and it became clear that it would be DSOTM. The DSOTM cover with the DT logo instead of the prism... It was a really nice performance, they brought in a female gospel singer, I believe Theresa Tomsaon, the same as on the Live scenes from NY singer, to accompany James and a guy to play the saxophone. With this DT line it is easier to bring a Pink floyd album than an Iron Maiden one, James is not Bruce Dickinson obviously and it was nearly perfect Pink floyd. In this setup I think, it was the closest you could get of the original Pink floyd and at some points you could close your eyes and believe that Pink floyd was playing. I really liked Johns solos, he did stay quite close to the original however they still remained his heavy touch. They did extend Us & them with some additional heavy parts I believe, which was really nice, and the closer did give me shivers all over. I'm not too technical, but I also believe Jordan had a Moog, the thing was big at least "

I'll bet that was a great fucking show!!!
