Mid-May 2014 Top 10 and other musings about the year in music thus far:
1. St. Vincent - St. Vincent
2. EMA - The Future's Void
3. Agalloch - The Serpent and the Sphere
4. Swans - To Be Kind
5. Cormorant - Earth Diver
6. Warpaint- Warpaint
7. Impetuous Ritual - Unholy Congregation of Hypocritical Ambivalence
8. Marissa Nadler - July
9. Thee Silver Mt. Zion- Fuck Off Get Free We Pour Light On Everything!
10. The Body/The Haxan Cloak - I Shall Die Here
-The Triptykon record is really good but a bad track order and a little bit of filler drops it off my list for now.
-I love that we're in 2014 and there's a shoegaze band with a tough guy internet persona.
-If Chrvches went away tomorrow it'd be 3 days too late.
-The new Eyehategod just doesn't click for me on record but I'm pretty sure if they play the entire record live it'll click and be some of their best work.
-I wish I liked the new Lykke Li record more than I do.
-I'm ridiculously excited to see Slowdive I don't even have words.
-Probably most hyped for the new Zola Jesus record for the rest of the year followed by Yob, Pallbearer, Wu-Tang (if it happens), and Leviathan.
-Positivity is a good thing when it comes to appreciating music. I'm guilty of it too but I see so many people post and talk about something that isn't out yet like it's automatically going to be terrible. We should make a conscious effort to change that.
