*I think the Slayer fanbase has turned over yet again. A lot of youngsters in the crowd. Gives me hope for the youth of America.
*If you're a grown-ass man and beg like a little girl for one of the band's lead guitar players to throw you a pick during the entire show, you should be thrown in prison. Some asshat next to me would hold his hand out and beg Kerry King for a pick whenever King walked over. If I was King, I would've taken a giant shit in his hand.
*I was next to a 9- and 11-year-old girl during the show. Both of them said Slayer was their favorite band. Yes, Slayer is now wholesome family entertainment. (And they never once begged King for a pick.)
*Slayer sounded really fucking great. I mean REALLY fucking great. The last three times I've seen them, their sound has been spot on. The first 25 times I saw them, it was always a little muddled or one aspect of the band would drown out the others.
*Slayer fans don't boo the openers off the stage any more. That's probably a good thing. Gojia is awesome and 4arm seemed like a good group of dudes. Someone did nail the Gojira singer with a full beverage as soon as he came out, though, so maybe there was at least one irrationally angry old-school Slayer fan in the crowd.
*There were a bunch of teenage kids that helped set up Slayer's stage and pull down the giant white sheet before Hell Awaits kicked in. Do you think these kids travel with the band? Or do they find new kids in every town? How awesome would it be if you were 16 years old and got to travel the country with Slayer?!
*Another amazing Slayer show. This one I got to watch practically from the stage. I get that some people are done w/ Slayer after Jeff's death and the Dave situation. To each their own. I'll go see this version of Slayer if it comes through town again.
