The Final Countdown is easily better than most of the rest of that album, it's about the only song on it that isn't generic '80s keyboard rock. It's unfortunate really that the song is now used to define generic '80s keyboard rock, because it's better than the stuff that really is derivative and boring (On The Loose, Ninja, Cherokee, etc.). And especially better than horrible ballads like Time Has Come. I swear listening to that song too many times will turn you gay.
For all the cheesy keyboards, the guitar playing is about as good as you can get!
