I was really, really surprised how much I enjoyed this album. What really did it for me is the songs are a lot shorter than any of Napalm Deaths 1990’s output. That’s one problem I have with Harmony Corruption; the songs just drag on for a bit too long. And the same can be said for a lot of their stuff on the later 1990’s albums. But on this album most of the songs are just around the two minute mark, which is perfect. And they almost go back into the grindcore territory of the first two albums. Musically it’s very grindcore. Just with Barneys death vocals. It’s odd that this album came out after Harmony Corruption since it bridges the gap perfectly between that album and the first two grindcore albums. Only the production is much better than any of those albums. One thing that holds this album back, however, is that a lot of the songs just aren’t that memorable. But that goes back to the whole grindcore thing; it’s just a blur. And there are too many samples. Samples and Napalm Death just don’t sound right to me. I’d say that this is probably my favorite of all of Napalm Death’s 1990’s albums.
Favorite Song: the World Keeps Turning
