The Rolling Stones -- Boston, MA -- June 14th, 2013
Let me say right up front that I have never been a fan of the Stones, and had no intention of attending this show, with the ticket prices being insane as they were!
However, that all changed yesterday when I received an email from the TD Garden with an offer for tickets to the show for $85 each (all fees inclusive). The only catch was that you wouldn't know where your seats were until you arrived at the arena. OK for $85 to see true legends, I was in.
Got to the Garden, and found the check-in for the $85 special tickets, and when we got them they were in the Balcony as I expected for that price (even though the email said there were seats available all throughout the arena, and they would be randomly distributed).
Marched up to the row, and not only were they in the balcony, but they were 1 row from the top! Can you say "nosebleeds"? Oh well I figured, they were originally much more so no complaints. Then about 1/2 hour later a TD Garden representative came through the upper rows giving tickets to people who acted like they had just hit the lottery, so we assumed they were getting upgrades. After getting passed by a couple of times the dude finally forked over our new seats - on the floor about 20 or so rows back from the stage! Not bad for $85! Especially considering that the floor tickets sold for close to $1000 if I'm not mistaken... Each!
Anyway, the Stones played a solid set with most of the "hits" for about 2 1/2 hours. Mick Taylor joined them for a couple of songs, but there was no "special guest" at this show. I have to say that they impressed me and not with a "for their age" tacked on either. There are a few younger bands that could learn a thing or two about showmanship from Mick and the boys! Of course it didn't hurt that he was pretty liberal with his Bruins comments too!
