This was the second time I got to see Primus. I still can’t find the set from the first (and best) time I saw them six months before this.
I can’t remember why but we got to this show really late and missed all the openers but there were zero we wanted to see anyway. This was actually a small traveling tour called Sno-core. I don’t know what that had to do with anything. I think Mr. Bungle played that "fest" the next year and then it faded away. I can't remember but I'm pretty sure the Alkoholiks played and Blink 182. There may have been more.
Since everything was so rushed that night I wasn’t even ready for Primus to start up. It was cool that Les started the show playing his stand-up bass for a couple of songs. But I just wasn’t as into this show as much as the one before. I guess because that first show I’d dreamt of seeing Primus for years before I saw them whereas this one was six months later; the magic was gone. That and the crowd not being too into them (a lot of people left after Blink 182) and we were so rushed getting there I didn’t get enough time to let myself get ready and enjoy. It was still a good show and they played a lot of songs I know they didn’t play the first time I saw them (Southbound Pachyderm
and a couple others). I just wish I could find that first set from October 1997 because that show was epic. It’s on setlist.fm but I know I never saw them play Wynonnas Big Brown Beaver
, so that set has to be wrong.
