Sevendust -- Minneapolis, MN -- April 8th, 2013
We tried to arrive late so we wouldn't have to endure Coal Chamber, but our timing was off. Walked in just as Coal Chamber was coming out. Coal Chamber is god awful. I tolerated about three songs before locking myself in a bathroom stall and listening to the Accidental Racist until Coal Chamber was done.
Listening to the Accidental Racist in a dirty bathroom stall > Coal Chamber.
Finally it was time for Sevendust. They played at First Avenue this summer and there were maybe 200 people there. There looked to be well over 1,000 at Mill City Nights on Monday, so it was nice to see a good turnout.
This was probably my 20th time seeing Sevendust and they were excellent as usual. The mix was a little off -- guitars were too loud and vocals were too low -- but it wasn't that big of a deal. Lajon was in a really good mood and the fill-in guitarist was fine (it's not like Sevendust's guitar parts are overly complicated anyway).
It would've been nice to get more than a 60-minute set with only one new song, but I wonder if having a fill-in guitarist has something to do with that. They've also been playing Waffle the last four or five times I've seen them. That song should never be removed from the setlist. Amazing song that's even better live.
Anyway, here's the full set:
Strong Arm Broken
Face To Face
If they wanted to make this set better, and complete, they should add Terminator, Till Death, Shine, Inside and Black Out the Sun. Remove Strong Arm Broken if a song has to be cut.
