7. Tomb of the Mutilated - Cannibal Corpse
Officially the band AND album to get me into Death Metal, up until Cannibal Corpse, the heaviest thing I had heard was Slayer. Plus before this album, I had never listened to anything with growls, the closest to screams I listened too was Slipknot
I again, listened to them before Mayhem Fest considering they were one of the bigger acts, plus seeing a picture of the band and the band name, I was really curious. So I went and downloaded what I presumed to be their most popular album, Tomb of the Mutilated. So I just pressed play and
Holy fuck, I don't care what you say, Hammer Smashed Face is one of the most brutal songs of all time. The intro completely smashes your inside and goes into one of the most epic death metal riffs ever. The song just never lets up, it's pure fucking carnage. Plus the breakdown
Then right comes the infamous I Cum Blood, which at first didn't seem that special with the alright intro, it came into the main chuggy riff which just had me watering at the mouth. It was beautiful, heavy, violent, and catchy as fuck. I loved it and I needed more of it. Addicted to Vaginal Skin continued with the good riffage, but definitely not up to par with the first 2 tracks. The next song, Split Wide Open is probably my least favorite song, I find it quite boring. Necropedophile brings back the awesome heavy and catchy riffs I longed for, while Cryptic Stench begins well, the song gets old after a while. On the other hand Entrails' Ripped from a Virgin's Cunt is kinda boring as well. Thankfully the last two songs Post Mortal Ejaculation and Beyond the Cemetery are much better, Beyond the Cemetary is my 3rd favorite song on the album. Plus a teen in love with horror at the time, the lyrics were awesomely hilarious to me, like someone finally understood my sick twisted humor :P
Overall, this album, while important to me, isn't even close too my favorite album from them. That would have to go to Eaten Back to Life
Regardless, the album is great and a classic.
