I dunno, you may be right. There are a lot of hurdles to it, mainly from the studios. Hell, TV networks are still fighting to the death over ads on sites like Hulu. There's also the problem of technology; even the best high speed Internet providers in America can't handle streaming or downloading a high volume of video at a decent resolution.
Even with Netflix Instant being a million times better than it used to be, I still buy physical media simply because you never know when a studio is going to pitch a fit and pull their stuff from the service.
Plus you're only talking about X many users. It's pretty unlikely even countries like the US and the UK will ever have networks in place that will be able to cope if all
TV and all
movie releases are streamed.
