Nonpoint -- Baltimore, MD -- August 20th, 2012
My 1st show at the Baltimore Soundstage for 98 Rock's Noise in the Basement. My buddy's band Rebel inc was supposed to open the show but they added a 3rd national act called Surrender the Fall so Rebel Inc. got pushed back to 7:15 and bailed because of it. Can't blame them really but it would have been great to see them on that stage. For the record the very last thing the world needs is another Papa Roach clone band so I was glad I only saw STF's last song. Not hateful but Rebel Inc smokes them on every level. If you like Rage Against the Machine I highly recommend going on youtube and checking out Rebel Inc. They slay!
Eye Empire was up next. WOW! The Dummer is a f'n animal and I wound up watching him the entire show. Very 7dust-esque sound since there's a Lowery in the band and several members of 7dust were on their cd. The new songs were ok but I loved the older stuff that was heavier and my friends did also. They definitely made a few new fans last night.
Nonpoint was the headliner and to only have to pay $5 to see Nonpoint makes that the best $5 you can possibly spend in my eyes. They're incredible live and the energy was on 10 most of the night. The highlight was Endure one of my favorite live songs of all time followed up immediately by Rabia. I went absolutely apeshit for that 10 minutes. The new songs were ok. I prefer I Said It over Left For You but I'm looking forward to the new cd and hoping they go heavier like I Said It.
A great show, a great crowd and if shots of Grey Goose weren't $8 I probably would have spent less than $50 total. Was thinking about buying a Nonpoint shirt but they were kinda lame. Eye Empire on the other had had cool ass merch including a cross type logo and a Heineken logo style that was cool.
