Cinderella -- Hampton Beach, NH -- June 29th, 2012
Venue: Casino Ballroom
Capacity of the joint is 2,200. Wasn't a sellout, but it was at least 3/4 of the way full. Around 1,800 is a good guess.
I got to the show much later than anticipated and just walked in the door as the opening band was ending their set. I know their name was Township & they're from Boston, but I've never heard of them before. So, no info on them from me.
(Chugs an ice cold Pabst Blue Ribbon, scoffs down a pretzel and secure my spot on the ballroom floor for the night)
Cinderella hit the stage at 920 and played until 1050. I went to see them because I like that era of music and I figured I'd kill a Friday night with some fun, not expecting much. I wasn't expecting what I got. What I got was a band that sounded so damn close to themselves in their heyday that it was a bit scary. Tommy Keifer is 51 and is still singing this material in the same key that it was written in, and hitting everything with ease. No detuning at all, which I can hardly ever say for any other nostalgia act I go see in concert these days. This was quite possibly the most fun I've ever had at a show. The crowd was great and overall, Cinderella kicked ass far beyond my expectations. They seem to play around here every summer. Going to make it a habit to catch them every year now.
Setlist is as follows...
Once Around The Ride
Somebody Save Me
The More Things Change
Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone)
Long Cold Winter
