Katatonia -- Moscow, Russia -- May 28th, 2012
Showed up a few hours before doors and shot the shit with a buddy of mine. Got into a creative mindset for some reason, and wrote some poems (inb4 faggot); give me a shout if you want to read them, I'd appreciate some criticism. Met the other Tipton brother (one of two brothers that have played in bands such as Zero Hour and Abnormal Thought Patterns) and discussed guitar, touring, and metal for an hour or so. To be honest, there isn't much to go over. The show was okay, I guess. I'd be lying if I didn't say I expected a bit more from Katatonia; both in the emotional department and for the length of their setlist. I have to forgive them for the latter since Anders wasn't at the show; mofo got sick a few days ago before the band departed to Russia and couldn't make it. Kudos for not cancelling the shows, though. Even though I probably would've enjoyed it a bit more had they played some more from Last Fair Deal Gone Down and The Great Cold Distance (Deliberation, anyone?!) I'm still glad I finally saw this great band. Sodomizer had a Gears of War sticker on his guitar, which was pretty funny.
Edit: Also thought I should mention that if you took all the girls out of consideration (many of whom were pretty good-looking) the place was like a fucking Steven Wilson-lookalike convention. Holy fuck, did that freak me out.
