22. The Unseen
Album title: THE UNSEEN
The best way I can describe this album is heavily psychedelic, jazzy, laid back, very "stoney", psychedelic spaced out production with lots of very stoned out instrumentals with a voice that may be hard for some to digest. The Unseen is a jazzy stoned out psychedelic masterpiece by hip hop Artist and Producer Madlib. He goes by bunch of different names and alter egos. Kind of a weird cat. But make no mistake about it, he makes some pretty epic tunes and is a very talented producer.
It should also be noted that Madlib recorded this entire album under the influence of Magic Mushrooms on a two week mushroom binge while recording this album.
Anyways, back to the real shit. The album is filled with spaced out dark yet up lifting heavy jazzy tunes with Madlib spitting raps as his alter ego "quasi moto". When he raps as quasimoto he changes his voice, it can sound pretty annoying and it might be hard for some to digest but I personally love it. Fits well with the albums weeded out spacey production. A lot of great bangers, my personal favorite is JAZZ CATS PT 1 which has both Madlib and his alter ego Quasi moto talking about getting blunted and listening to all their favorite jazz musicians and jazz artists from Herbie hancock to john Coltrane to shit, you name them they say em'. Another classic track is "return of the loop digga" which has Madlib looping out all kinds of jazzy tunes from the 60s era in a classic track which has a funny middle-break involving Madlib at a jazz store asking abunch of questions, ahaha, AND goes into an epic sinister instrumental with Madlib spitting out flows from all directions!!. I think a lot of people should check this album out just for its super spacey jazzy production created by Madlib, and it may take awhile to get use to Quasimotos voice. But the album is a straight classic.
Easily one of the best albums of all time.
