Arch Enemy -- Moscow, Russia -- January 28th, 2012

I'm assuming the set remained the same throughout the January leg of the tour, so here it is:

Yesterday is Dead and Gone
Revolution Begins
Ravenous
Enemy Within
My Apocalypse
Bloodstained Cross
Taking Back My Soul
Drum Solo
Under Black Flags We March
Dead Eyes See No Future
Guitar Solo
Burning Angel
Dead Bury Their Dead
We Will Rise

Snow Bound
Nemesis
Fields of Desolation

Wow, so that was fun. Showed up at the venue two hours before doors to find a huge clump of people standing outside the doors; this crowd wasn't even in a line, they were just all over the place, so me and my friend (who's recently created an account here, so START POSTING GODDAMN IT) took a spot in the crowd closer to the doors. It got fucking cold, really fucking cold. Half an hour before doors, and I was already feeling like my toes were about to just snap off. Anyhow, I managed to prevail against the treacherous frost and at 7:30 we were let in. However, the opening band had yet to go through a soundcheck, so staff promptly put up barriers closing us off from the GA area. After buying a kick-ass tour shirt, I stood there for about half an hour before the barrier was taken down and the pack of wolves was let loose. I managed to push into the front row after about five minutes of budging, but interestingly enough, there was a guy in a wheelchair center rail. Not sure how he managed to survive the barrage of crowdsurfers later on, but props to him for having the balls to be there!

The opening band came on less than an hour later, an Israeli melodeath band called The Fading. These guys weren't as bad as I had expected them to be, but their vocalist sounded a bit shabby at times. After about 5-6 songs they left, and the chanting for Arch Enemy began. Arch Enemy were fucking great; pure energy between the band and the audience, and surprisingly, nobody called out for her to show them her tits! It was nice and all to finally windmill a bit, seeing as how the last show I legit headbanged at was Iced Earth exactly two monthes ago, but forget that; BLOODSTAINED CROSS and DEAD EYES SEE NO FUTURE were fucking crushing. Definitely up there in my favorite live songs list now, along with "Watching Over Me", "The Dreadful Hours", and a few others, especially Bloodstained Cross. Was really hoping to catch a pick from Amott (big Carcass fan!) but didn't end up getting anything even though a few setlists came my way. Eh, better luck next time! Bought a show poster after a long wait to get out of the GA area, and went on my way home.

Good night, folks!
