Final night of ProgPower at the Center Stage Theater. After the show, I mentioned to Matt Camacho that I had seen them open for Death Angel at the same venue 21 years ago, and he seemed almost embarrassed.
This probably isn't in perfect order.
2. Step By Step
3. Off the Edge
4. Adapt or Die
5. Omega Wave
6. Tossed Away (a huge surprise)
7. One Foot in Hell
8. Hypnotized By the Rhythm
9. Twisted Into Form
11. Forsaken at the Gates
12. Through Eyes of Glass
13. Chalice of Blood
So, we got everything offTwisted Into Form except "Out of Body, Out of Mind," and almost half of the debut. This was my fourth time seeing them, but I'd never caught them playing a semi-headlining set. Smyth and Locicero shredded, Anderson was in fine form, Camacho was mostly inaudible, and Gene Hoglan filled in on drums. Mean Gene was an unexpected treat. Sanctuary had a better mix last night, but that would be my only complaint.
As for the other bands, Labyrinth was highly competent but not my thing; and Therion...well, I loved those guys 15 years ago. I even enjoyed their set when they played this same festival in 2005. These days, I lasted a song and a half.
