Exhumed -- Tempe, AZ -- July 18th, 2011
Got there early to catch local slam-death band Necrambulant. Not a genre I'm super into, but it can be fun. these guys are one of the better bands of the genre. Not sure of the setlist because their song titles are longer than their songs it seems. Next were two other locals who I was rather indifferent to, so I skipped out and went next door for $2 beers.
Up next were locals Landmine Marathon. Great friends of mine for many years, but this was the first time I'd seen them in quite awhile. Andy York has been in the band for almost a year but this was the first time I'd seen them perform with him. The set was great, Dylan's guitar could have been a bit louder, but I had no complaints otherwise. They played two new ones from the upcoming record that both sounded awesome.
Landmine Marathon setlist:
Shadows Fed To Tyrants
Next was Cephalic Carnage. I've always loved Cephalic, but I find them less fun since some of the original members have left. Not sure who was playing drums, but it wasn't John Merryman. They still sounded great, but it wasn't as crazy as it used to be. I think they played about 8 songs, but I'm not sure of all of them.
Cephalic Carnage setlist(incomplete):
Raped By An Orb
Abraxas Of Filth
Finally came Exhumed's return to AZ after 6 long years. I could tell they were having problems with the sound onstage, but in the crowd it sounded great. They played songs off every album. Exhumed has always been fun live, they have the stage presence of an 80's thrash band, but the sound of 90's death metal. I'm so glad they're back!
All Guts, No Glory
As Hammer To Anvil
Through Cadaver Eyes
In The Name Of Gore
Limb From Limb
Forged In Fire, Formed In Flame
In My Human Slaughterhouse
The Matter Of Splatter
Open The Abscess
"This Axe Was Made to Grind" was on the setlist before "Decrepit Crescendo," but they skipped it for some reason.
