So this was supposed to be on the Heaven stage at the Masquerade, the upstairs room with a 1000 person capacity. I hate Heaven. Fortunately,
The Glitch Mob got moved from another venue to the Masquerade for some reason, and obviously they can sell many more tickets than
Origin, so Origin moved down to Hell

The Masquerade doesn't have the best acoustics or whatever, as it used to be an old cotton mill, and Hell is no different than Heaven in that aspect, but it's a much smaller room and stage and it feels so much more intimate.
The Masquerade put 3 local bands on top of the 3 touring bands, so this show happened to run pretty late. My brother and I got there in time for the last local,
Legion X, to play. It was their CD release show so they played like 35-40 minutes. God they sucked.
Next was
Absymal Dawn. When MetalSucks streamed their album Leveling the Plane of Existence earlier this year, I listened to a couple of songs but I wasn't a fan. Way too modern-sounding and clean for my tastes. Well, they were okay live. They were pretty much tech-death, but they had some cool riffs. They even had an Immolation meets Strapping Young Lad vibe.
Programmed to Consume
My Own Savior
Rapture Renowned
Perpetual Dormancy
Leveling the Plane of Existence
In Service of Time
might not be the right order ^
Then it was time for
Vital Remains. When I saw them on Summer Slaughter they were okay. Their sound was awful though. This time they were even worse. Their sound was so freakin bad. It had me thinking that Origin was gonna be the same way.
Icons of Evil (with intro)
Savior to None...Failure for All
Hammer Down The Nails
Dechristanize (with intro)
Fortunately I was wrong. Origin took a long time to set up, and they got on a little after 12. I had mentioned earlier that my mom wanted me to be home by 12:30, so I should have been leaving then. But for some reason I was feeling really defiant that night. I'm 19 years old, for chrissake, about to go off to college, and she wants me home by 12:30? Normally I wouldn't have a problem with this, as most bands end before midnight, but the fuckin' Masquerade screwed up by putting too many locals on so as I said, Origin didn't even start till' midnight. The previous summer my mom had made me come home at 12:30 from a Vektor show, and I only caught one song of theirs. I had never really forgiven my parents for that. I was determined to not let it happen again. I WAS DETERMINED TO SEE ORIGIN. So I stayed. My younger brother kept tapping me on the shoulder during the performance (I was on the rail) but I either ignored him or just turned and shook my head at him.
Anyways, enough about me and onto the performance. THEY WERE FUCKING AMAZING. Probably the best live metal band I've ever seen. They still sounded great, despite the fact it was at the Masquerade, I was on the rail (it doesn't sound as good there), and I had earplugs in. Jason was a crazy vocalist. He stood on the rail most of the time and screamed into the crowd. I screamed into his face a lot of the time, but I didn't know any of the words so I was just screaming nothing

He didn't pull anyone on stage, but he kept telling people to stagedive, so I pulled myself on top of the short stage and jumped for the first time. There weren't that many rows of people so it was kinda stupid, I just put one foot on the speaker and one foot on the rail and sorta fell into a couple peoples' hands. I'd like to try it again at a show with more people. Anyways, like I said, they were flawless, and so fun. If I'm grounded, I don't give a shit. THAT WAS SO WORTH IT.
I guess I hadn't listened to enough of Origin, as I didn't hear them play Saliga or Antithesis, but I'm sure they did play those two songs. They may have played Portal too. Anyways I can give you a partial setlist but that's all.
