Yes, Customs can be a pain. Plan an extra 30-45 minutes, cause there are often lines, and occasionally Immigration will pull you in and run a check. Pain in the ass, but it is what it is.
Speed limit on the highways is 100 km/h (63ish mph), so no real change. Trust me, there's nothing to be intimidated by, pretty much everyone speaks English, most areas are relatively safe, etc.
