Found out that there were approximately 5 billion local acts before this show, so I strolled in during the last one before The Absence.
Dead and Gone
Riders of the Plague
From Your Grave
I had *ahem* acquired their newest album a few days ago, and was very underwhelmed, especially compared to their first two efforts. Their new album sounded like less Carcass and more In Flames. In the worst way. Anyway, I had missed every time they'd been in the area, so I was FINALLY seeing The Absence. Starting strong with a choice cut off of Riders, "The Murder", I though that they were going to kick some serious ass. Then they just... didn't. Whether it was the setlist or just their material live. It seemed to just lack balls.
Provoking the Ritual of Death
This Passing Into the Power of Demons
In the Narrow Confines of Defilement
Wear These Scars of Testimony
Blood Guilt Eucharist
Reckoning of the Soul Made Godless
Carving Out the Eyes of God
Graveyards and Dead Angels
Alchemy of the Black Sun Cult
In Legions, I Am Wars of Wrath
Anyway, fuckin Goatwhore. Third time that I've seen them, first time headlining. Also I've never seen Sammy use the same guitar. Moving on, Goatwhore fucking rocked. By now everybody in the world has seen them on some tour or another, so I won't go into the gory details. But with the extra time they got a good mix from all of their albums (despite not playing Invert the Virgin), rather than heavily favoring Carving... . They jammed on some Black Sabbath riffs towards the end, and closed out the show with Apocalyptic Havoc.
Also, most of Goatwhore's shirts were $15 (one was $20) and their hoodie was $40. CDs were $10, and a thong was $15. The Absence didn't have their prices listed.
