Mayhem Festival -- Cuyahoga Falls, OH -- July 31st, 2009

Venue: Blossom Music Center
Source: Me

I was pleasantly surprised with the bill overall. I'm not really a metalcore or deathcore fan, but everyone did a great job and it was a great time. Trivium was really good and I wasn't sure what to think of them going in as I have never seen them before and everyone always says they suck.

Behemoth and Killswitch ripped as well.

My only reservations were All That Remains and Mushroomhead. I just don't get ATR and their sound was bad, so that didn't help. Mushroomhead just went to shit in my opinion. Their stage setup and performance were fine, but the songs just don't grab me.

I only have a few setlists (although I'm sure the other bands played similar stuff to what's been posted before).I FINALLY got to see Corpse live and they absolutely destroyed!

Cannibal Corpse:

1. Evisceration Plague
2. The Time To Kill Is Now
3. I Cum Blood
4. Sentenced To Burn
5. Make Them Suffer
6. Priests Of Sodom
7. Hammer Smashed Face
8. Stripped, Raped, & Strangled

The main reason I paid a shit ton of money to get in the pit was for Slayer. I have seen them several times and each time they get better. Security kept telling people to stop moshing during Mushroomhead and Killswitch. People stopped but when Slayer went on, there was nothing they could do. They even put a guard in the pit to calm things down...it didn't work. He seemed to have a good time though! Slayer destroyed and played everything I wanted to hear.

Slayer:

1. Darkness Of Christ
2. Disciple
3. War Ensemble
4. Jihad
5. Psychopathy Red
6. Born Of Fire
7. Mandatory Suicide
8. Chemical Warfare
9. Ghosts Of War
10. Dead Skin Mask
11. Hell Awaits
12. Angel Of Death
13. South Of Heaven
14. Raining Blood

Manson was good. I'm in the middle with him, but I was glad to hear Tourniquet as it's my favorite song of his. He played the following (I don't know most of the new stuff, so it's only partial).

Manson:

1. We're From America
2. Disposable Teens
3. ?
4. Irresponsible Hate Anthem
5. ?
6. The Dope Show
7. Rock Is Dead
8. Tourniquet
9. Sweet Dreams
10. The Beautiful People

This was overall a great festival. A lot of shit to see and do while listening to some good bands. I'm going tomorrow as well for Slayer. I won't bother posting though as the sets will be the same, I'm sure.
