I'm big on Cincinnati's Bogart's. Standard rock club, but the best-run in the state for sure.
And somewhat more locally, Dayton's Dayton Dirt Collective and the now defunct basement venue below Stillwater Photography in Troy are the greatest places to see post-rock/experimental/avant-garde/blahblahblah shows.
