Yeah, I am the same Blumpkin King. I was hoping for Burning Like A Flame and Unchain The Night. But for $25 bucks it was a good show. Don Dokken is the King of Air Drumming. Here is my review from Metal Sludge.
Headed down to the Canyon Club on Thursday night. Bought my ticket at the door ($25), went in, and was a little surprised how empty it was. The place holds about 1200 and I think that there were maybe 450-500 people attending. I had been there a few times in the past couple of years. Queensryche was packed. Shaw-Blades was pretty crowded. Not so much for Dokken. They did start really early. They went on about 8:35 P and finished about 10:10. I guess they turn the place into a dance club after shows on Thursday's and Friday's. There were some early sound problems early with Don's mic. I am not sure it was the mic or the actual sound system at the club. It's too bad because the band sounded really good. Once they got the problems fixed the mix was pretty good. Some continuing mic issues though out the night really frustrated Don. He did not let it show in performance. Entertaining banter between songs. Don went almost 1/2 of a song before getting into his air Drumming. Good rock n roll show. For me it was worth the $25. Had a good time.
Show 7.5 (due to early sound problem, otherwise 8) out of 10. Air Drumming 9.5 out of 10. Air Drumming was simply Awesome.
